Child Dies After Uncle Violently Slams Her to the Ground
A 3-year-old girl has been tragically killed in Ndola after her uncle, allegedly drunk, slammed her to the ground during a drinking spree.
The incident, which has shocked the local community, took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner MWALA YUYI, says the murder was reported at approximately 02:10 hours on April 13, 2026, at Jacaranda Villa Police Post, under Masala Police Station.
Mr. YUYI says the victim, identified as JANET MAZIMBA, was allegedly killed by her 38-year-old uncle, ALIMON SIMUKONDA.
The child’s grandmother, 55-year-old F. EVENESS NAKAMBA, witnessed the event and reported seeing SIMUKONDA lift the child and then slam her violently to the ground.
The Copperbelt Police Chief says the assault caused severe injuries, with JANET bleeding from both her nose and mouth.
Mr. YUYI says police were called to the scene immediately, and SIMUKONDA was arrested shortly after the incident.
He says police have since launched a full investigation into the matter, with SIMUKONDA remaining in custody as authorities work to establish the full circumstances of the attack.
