A female Chingola Local Court Messenger has allegedly been murdèrèd by a suspect she was taking to Police.

The incident Occurred yesterday March 18th 2025 between 15:30 hrs and 16:40hrs at Chingola Local Court.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba who confirmed the Incident has identified the deceased as Prudence Nkomesha.

Mr Mweemba explains that the deceased was murdèrèd by Francis Mwamba, a suspect who was being taken to Police for defaulting to pay a K500 fee which the Court ordered him to be paying to his ex wife.

He says the suspect and the wife had a marital dispute and took the matter to Chingola Local Court where they were divorced and the husband was ordered by the court to be paying a monthly fee of K500.

Mr Mweemba says the suspect paid some months then defaulted one month which made the wife report back the matter to the Local Court where a warrant to arrest the suspect was issued.

He disclosed that yesterday around 09:00hrs, the suspect was taken to court where the court ordered two female court messengers to take him to the Police.

Mr Mweemba says On the way, the suspect got a bamboo log and hit the deceased on the head and she sustained a cut on the head and a swollen forehead.

She was later rushed to Nchanga North General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect who is currently on the run.
